I was one of the participant that got selected to The de Young’s annual art slam last week. My work was only shown for two days, Thursday and Saturday. It was a privilege and honor to have my work seen in a museum with that much reputation. It wasn’t in the same realm as their permanent collection, but to be in the same location as all these famous people in history, I felt extremely blessed. I think the best part was having free tickets in those days to check out the whole museum. I had several tickets under my name, but I really don’t have friends that’s into what I’m into, so a lot of the tickets were unused. My teacher from 5th grade showed-up though, with her husband all the way from Sacramento. I’m very grateful for them driving all the way to San Francisco to support me.
Taking the bus to the museum was a breeze on Thursday, but Saturday was tough. It was raining early in the morning and my umbrella turned inside-out. Once in the museum, I took advantage of everything, including a free tour of their exhibits. Luckily, I had a solo, private tour because I got there early and no one else took a tour with us. Ha, never thought I’d ever get a one-on-one tour to myself…it was GREAT!
